Seven

Seven engineers stayed behind on a planet that stopped answering. Forty eight pages a month, drawn in two inks, printed while the signal holds.

The beginning
of the end

The last supply run left on a Tuesday. By Thursday the relay had gone quiet, and the seven who stayed found out that quiet is not the same as empty.

Issue one opens in the dish yard, three years after the evacuation, with a crew who have stopped counting days and started counting broadcasts. Nobody is coming. The transmission goes out anyway, every month, on the same frequency.
